SFR Seed makes big changes in 2021: new name, team, facility
SFR Seed, formerly Shoffner Farm Research, performs field research trials in soybeans, corn, and rice for customers around the globe. For more than 30 years, the research farm has built a reputation for quality, data integrity, and seed purity.
To support a new era of growth and success, SFR Seed introduces a new management team.
Hallie Shoffner, CEO: Hallie is youngest child of retired founders, John and Wendy Shoffner. Hallie grew up working alongside Wendy, assisting with field trials. She has her bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and her master's degree from the University of Arkansas Little Rock.
Sy Williams, COO: Sy grew up on his family farm in Grubbs, Arkansas, and is graduate of Arkansas State University with a bachelor's degree in Ag Business. His research career started with Syngenta Seeds, where he managed their research station in Bay, Arkansas.
Kyle McLaughlin, Seed Conditioning Plant Manager: Kyle started his career in agriculture at Farmers’ Elevator and worked 17 years with Riceland Foods, where he managed milling, packaging, and shipping.
Dustin Pickelmann, Research Manager: A native of Greenville, Mississippi, and graduate of Delta State University, Dustin started his ag career at the USDA Agricultural Research Station in Stoneville, Mississippi, and, since has gained over a decade of experience in agricultural field research at Mississippi State and the University of Arkansas research station in Stuttgart.
In April, SFR Seed breaks ground on a facility that will enhance the company’s ability to produce and process parent soybean seed varieties.
“We are building on my parents’ decades of amazing work and taking a big step into the future,” says Hallie Shoffner. “SFR Seed is version 2.0 of Shoffner Farm Research, and we are excited to serve our customers even better.”
